Family Accuses Delhi Police of Delayed Response in Missing Person Case
In a distressing incident from New Delhi, relatives and close friends of Kamal Dhyani have come forward with serious allegations against local police and authorities. They claim that during their desperate, night-long search for Kamal, they received neither timely support nor adequate assistance from the officials responsible for public safety.
Police Counter Allegations with Detailed Account of Actions
The Delhi Police, however, has firmly refuted these claims. In an official statement, they provided a comprehensive breakdown of the measures undertaken to locate Kamal Dhyani. The police asserted that they extended all possible help to his family and friends throughout the search operation, contradicting the narrative of negligence.
Suspicions of Foul Play and Critical Timeline
Kamal's twin brother, Karan, along with friend Mayank, expressed deep suspicions of foul play in the case. They revealed a chilling detail: just hours before Kamal's body was discovered in one of the pits along Joginder Singh Marg, they had personally inspected all such pits in the area they had identified. At that time, they found no one there.
The police confirmed they are investigating unconfirmed reports of a fight involving Kamal, adding another layer to the ongoing inquiry.
Allegations Regarding CCTV and Phone Tracking
The grieving family reported that they requested CCTV footage from the vicinity to aid their search. According to their account, police informed them that the cameras in the area lacked recording or playback capabilities and could only display a live feed, rendering them useless for retrospective investigation.
Furthermore, the relatives alleged that police did not provide the precise location of Kamal's mobile phone, which was reportedly still switched on. "We went to Janakpuri police station and told the cops that Kamal's phone was still switched on. They gave us a location radius of 200 metres but not the exact place where we could find him. As a result, we were in the dark and wasted time looking for him also in nearby parks," Karan stated. He added that their search party, using flashlights, found no one while scanning all pits within this 200-meter radius.
Concerns Over Delayed Safety Measures
Mayank highlighted a critical delay in safety protocols. He noted that essential safety measures, such as deploying police personnel and erecting barricades around the pit where Kamal's body was eventually found, were only implemented on Friday morning. He expressed the painful belief that had these steps been taken earlier, his friend might still be alive.
Police Timeline of the Search Operation
According to police records, Karan and some of Kamal's friends arrived at Vikaspuri police station at 1:35 AM, searching for him. They were informed that there was no record of a road accident involving Kamal nor any medico-legal certificate issued in his name. Additionally, his motorcycle had not been reported missing.
Since Kamal's last known communication was a call to his family from the Janakpuri district center earlier that night, the search party proceeded to that area. At 2:50 AM, Karan formally filed a missing person report at Janakpuri police station.
Sub-Inspector Awant then accessed Kamal's mobile phone location, which indicated an area near Possangipur Park in Janakpuri. Immediately, Kamal's photograph, personal details, and information about his bike were circulated to:
- The West District control room
- The SHOs' group
- The Janakpuri police station WhatsApp group
A search team was promptly assembled, consisting of Head Constable Ramkesh, Constable Tejpal, home guard Vikas, along with Kamal's friends and relatives. This joint team thoroughly combed Possangipur Park, nearby parking spaces, and surrounding colonies. Despite hours of intensive searching, neither Kamal nor his motorcycle could be located at that time.
The case remains under investigation as authorities work to piece together the final hours of Kamal Dhyani's life, while his family continues to seek answers and accountability.
