Delhi Teacher Faces Pocso Charges for Alleged Sexual Harassment of Students
In a disturbing incident from north Delhi's Burari area, three Class XII students have come forward with allegations of sexual harassment against their private tuition teacher, spanning over the past year. The Delhi Police took swift action, registering a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused on Monday after receiving a formal complaint from the victims.
Threats and Intimidation Alleged by Victims
According to police sources, the girls have reported that the teacher used threats to silence them. He allegedly warned that he would leak their private photos and videos if they spoke out about the abuse. In a further escalation, the accused is said to have threatened to harm their families, creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation that prevented the students from reporting the incidents earlier.
Confrontation Leads to Case Unfolding
The case came to light on Monday when the teacher visited the residence of one of the students. During a confrontation in front of her family, the student bravely disclosed the alleged abuse. In a shocking turn of events, the teacher reportedly reacted by locking the family inside their house from the outside before fleeing the scene. Neighbors later intervened to help the family open the door, highlighting the immediate danger faced by the victims.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
The girls have reported that the harassment incidents date back to October 2024, indicating a prolonged period of abuse. Delhi Police have registered the case under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, which is designed to provide a robust legal framework for addressing such crimes against minors. As of now, the suspect remains on the run, with police confirming that multiple teams have been formed to trace and apprehend him. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward to ensure justice for the victims.
