In a shocking case of betrayal and violence, an 18-year-old boy was allegedly drugged, brutally attacked, and killed by two of his friends in outer north Delhi. The crime, police revealed on Wednesday, was motivated by a personal dispute stemming from the victim's relationship with the cousin of one of the accused.
A Grisly Discovery in the Munak Canal
The body of the victim, identified as Ankit (18), a resident of Sadar Bazar, was recovered from the Munak Canal. He had been reported missing from the Gulabi Bagh area on November 18. His body was found on November 22 near the Haiderpur Water Treatment Plant after police received a PCR call.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Hareshwar Swami stated that the scene was harrowing. Ankit’s hands and feet were tied with shoelaces, and a handkerchief was found around his neck. Investigators also noted three sharp injuries on his head. A case has been registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
Confession and Arrests Unravel the Plot
The investigation gained crucial momentum following the arrest of one of the accused, Ashish (23), by the Special Cell in Rohini in connection with a separate case. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to the murder of his friend Ankit. Based on his disclosure, police subsequently arrested his associate, Vishal Dhilod (23).
Police clarified that the motive was intensely personal. Ashish was reportedly upset over Ankit’s relationship with his cousin and had warned him repeatedly to stay away. This simmering resentment ultimately culminated in the horrific crime.
Chilling Sequence of Events on the Fateful Day
Police have pieced together a detailed account of the incident. On the day of the murder, the accused allegedly lured Ankit to the Tikri Kalan Metro Station. From there, they took him on a scooter to a house in Gaddha Colony.
At the house, the duo executed their plan. They allegedly drugged Ankit, tied his limbs, and attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon. To conceal the evidence, they later transported his body in a pickup truck and dumped it into the Munak Canal near a temple in Bawana.
In a significant breakthrough, the police have successfully recovered key evidence, including the murder weapon, the pickup truck used to dispose of the body, and the scooter used to ferry the victim. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
