Delhi: Teen stabbed over Rs 2000 loan, two arrested

A violent dispute over a small loan of just two thousand rupees left a 19-year-old man fighting for his life after he was stabbed in the neck in Northwest Delhi's Rohini area on Saturday. The Delhi Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the brutal attack.

Altercation Over Loan Repayment Turns Violent

The incident, which occurred on Saturday afternoon, stemmed from an argument over the repayment of a Rs 2,000 loan. The victim, identified as Kuldeep, also a painter by profession, was allegedly attacked by the main accused, Ratan (35), after a quarrel about the money. According to police, Ratan was accompanied by his friend, Shyam (40), who reportedly came to support him during the confrontation.

Police control room (PCR) received a distress call around 1:55 pm reporting the stabbing. A team rushed to the spot but found that the victim had already been moved to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital by PCR staff. Kuldeep had sustained a deep stab injury on the right side of his neck and was immediately taken into surgery.

Police Investigation and Evidence Collection

During the inspection of the crime scene, officers found bloodstains on the road. Following this discovery, a crime team and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team were summoned to the location to thoroughly examine the spot and collect crucial evidence.

The investigation revealed that another person, Aditya, who tried to intervene and calm the situation, also sustained a minor injury between the thumb and index finger of his right hand. Based on the statements from the injured parties, an FIR was registered at the Begumpur police station.

Charges Under New Law and Arrests Made

The case has been filed under sections 109(1) for attempted murder and 3(5) for common intent of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the new penal code that has replaced the Indian Penal Code. The police initiated a swift investigation which led to the arrest of both accused persons.

The weapon used in the offence, a knife, was recovered at the instance of the main accused, Ratan. Both arrested individuals, Ratan and Shyam, are residents of Sector 25 in Rohini and work as painters, just like the victim. Police confirmed that further investigation into the case is currently underway to examine all aspects of the incident.
