Delhi Teen's 'Accidental' Death Unmasked as Murder in Cap Dispute
In a shocking turn of events, what was first reported as an accidental injury from falling on an iron rod has been exposed as a brutal murder stemming from a trivial argument over a cap in north west Delhi's Vijay Vihar area. The case highlights a grim tale of juvenile violence and deception.
Initial Reports and Hospital Admission
According to police authorities, the incident came to light on February 11 when a PCR call was received from a government hospital regarding a minor boy admitted with severe injuries. The injured teenager was initially declared unfit to provide a statement due to his critical condition. Later that night, around 10:50 PM, he informed doctors that he had accidentally fallen on an iron rod from the roof of his home, a story that would soon unravel.
Post-Mortem Reveals Homicidal Truth
Tragically, two days later, on February 13, the boy succumbed to his injuries. A post-mortem examination conducted the following day delivered a startling revelation: the wound on his body was a stab injury caused by a sharp-edged weapon, inconsistent with an accidental fall. Additional Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajeev Ranjan stated, "The findings indicated that the incident had been deliberately projected as an accident, while the actual cause of death was homicidal." Consequently, a case was registered at Vijay Vihar police station, and a thorough probe was launched.
Investigation Unfolds the Cap Dispute
During the investigation, police relied on local intelligence and apprehended another minor boy, an accused in the case. Under questioning, he disclosed that the three minor boys, including the victim, were close friends, with the victim and the third accused residing in the same building. On the afternoon of February 11, the trio was sitting on the roof and conversing when the third accused picked up the victim's cap and put it on. When the victim demanded it back, an argument erupted and escalated after he allegedly abused the third accused.
A senior police officer explained, "The third accused then asked the apprehended minor to hold the boy, after which he stabbed the victim with a sharp object." Following the stabbing, the two accused allegedly intimidated the injured teen, instructing him to tell others that he had been hurt in an accidental fall on an iron rod. They assured him they would arrange treatment and aid his recovery. Out of fear, the victim initially repeated this fabricated version to his family and others.
Ongoing Manhunt for Main Suspect
While one accused minor has been apprehended, the main suspect remains absconding along with his family members. Police teams are actively conducting searches to trace him, emphasizing the urgency of bringing all perpetrators to justice. This case underscores the severe consequences of minor disputes escalating into fatal violence among youth in urban areas.
