New Delhi: An on-duty traffic police officer was injured in a hit-and-run incident near the Sarai Julena traffic light in southeast Delhi on Wednesday morning. The injured officer, head constable Rahul Kumar, is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Incident Details

Police officials stated that Kumar was on duty around 10:30 am when a speeding car, allegedly driven rashly, came from the wrong side and struck him before fleeing the scene. The impact left the officer injured, and he was immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility.

Investigation and CCTV Footage

Following the incident, law enforcement authorities reviewed CCTV footage from the area. This review led to the identification of the offending vehicle, a black Kia car, as confirmed by a senior police officer. The footage provided crucial evidence to trace the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.

Legal Action

A case has been registered at the New Friends Colony police station under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 281, 125, 132, 221, and 121, along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. These sections pertain to rash driving, causing hurt, and other related offenses.

Ongoing Efforts
