A shocking incident of violence over a petty debt has left a 19-year-old youth fighting for his life in the national capital. The victim, identified as Kuldeep, was repeatedly stabbed in the neck on Saturday in northwest Delhi's Buddh Vihar Phase 2, allegedly by two men over his inability to repay a loan of just Rs 2,000.
Timeline of the Attack and Police Response
The Begumpur police station received a distress call about the violent assault at 1:55 PM on Saturday. The incident occurred in Gali No. 23 of Shyam Colony. By the time local police officers reached the spot, a PCR van team had already rushed the critically injured Kuldeep to Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital for emergency treatment.
Officers found blood stains at the crime scene, and forensic experts were called in to collect crucial evidence. The police have since arrested both alleged attackers and seized the knife believed to have been used in the brutal assault.
Victim's Critical Condition and Surgical Intervention
Kuldeep sustained severe stab injuries on the right side of his neck. His condition was so grave that he was immediately wheeled into the operation theatre upon arrival at the hospital. After undergoing surgery, he was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU). Police sources confirmed that his condition remains critical as he continues his battle for survival.
Preliminary investigation points to a heated quarrel between Kuldeep and the main suspect, Ratan (35), regarding the unpaid Rs 2,000 loan. During the argument, Ratan, along with his associate Shyam (40), allegedly launched the knife attack on the young man.
Case Registered and Legal Action
Another youth, Aditya, who attempted to intervene and stop the assault, was also injured. He suffered minor cuts on his hand during the scuffle.
The Begumpur police have registered a case against both accused, Shyam and Ratan, who are residents of Sector-25, Rohini. They have been booked under relevant sections of the new criminal code, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 109 (attempt to murder) and Section 3(5) (common intention). The swift arrests and seizure of the weapon mark a significant step in the ongoing investigation into this disturbing case of extreme violence over a trivial sum.
