A 23-year-old delivery executive named Govardhan, a native of Muzaffarpur in Bihar, died on Wednesday after sustaining critical injuries in a hit-and-run accident that occurred near the Millennium City Centre metro station on May 9. Two weeks after the incident, the accused driver remains at large, according to police reports.
Details of the Incident
The accident took place near gate number 1 of the Millennium City Centre metro station. Govardhan was returning to a store on his motorcycle after an order was cancelled. While en route, an unidentified car struck his two-wheeler and fled the scene without stopping.
Passers-by alerted the police, and Govardhan was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. He remained under treatment for several days before succumbing to his injuries.
Legal Action Taken
A case has been registered at the Sushant Lok police station under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police Investigation Underway
A police officer stated, "We are scanning CCTV footage installed near the metro station and along adjoining roads to identify the vehicle involved in the accident. Teams are also gathering details from nearby establishments and checking footage from traffic cameras in the area."
The officer added that efforts are underway to trace the accused driver, who fled immediately after the collision.
This incident has raised concerns about road safety and the prevalence of hit-and-run accidents in the area. The police continue to appeal for any information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspect.
