Delivery Executive Dies After Scooter Hit by Car on Delhi Flyover
Delivery Executive Dies in Delhi Flyover Accident

A 25-year-old delivery executive lost his life after his scooter was struck by a car on the Dabri Mor flyover in southwest Delhi early Thursday. The impact flung him off the flyover, and the car driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, according to police.

The victim, identified as Rajkumar, hailed from Pathwara village in Jharkhand's Godda district. He had moved to Delhi about a week ago with his 20-year-old cousin, Mahavir, in search of employment to support his family.

The accident occurred around 6:30 am. A PCR call was received from Pankha Road at Dabri police station, reporting that a man had fallen from the Dabri Mor flyover and needed medical assistance. The injured was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Darade Sharad Bhaskar stated, 'The offending vehicle, a red hatchback, was found abandoned at the spot. Based on the number plate, the owner has been identified as a resident of Dabri.'

Mahavir recounted that Rajkumar had stepped out for tea when the incident happened. 'When I woke up around 6:15 am, he wasn't in the room. I called him, and he said he had gone to have tea. I told him I would join him in a bit. When I called again later, a cop answered and informed me about the accident,' he said. Rajkumar is survived by his parents, a younger brother, and an elder sister. His father works as a farmer in Jharkhand. 'He was very hardworking. He used to work as a security guard in Bengaluru earlier. His sister had got married only recently,' Mahavir added.

The Dabri Mor flyover is situated near a commercial area, with shops and vegetable carts densely packed underneath. A spot inspection revealed that the height from which Rajkumar fell was at least 30 feet, and the collision occurred near the cemented crash barrier on the edge of the flyover. The barrier was low and lacked an upper barrier.

Residential buildings and the Dabri police station are located opposite the flyover, along with two other adjacent flyover carriageways. The PCR call initially went to Dabri police station, and Rajkumar was rushed to the hospital by 6:45 am. It was later discovered that the spot fell under Janakpuri police station jurisdiction, leading to a case transfer.

Police are investigating whether either vehicle was on the wrong side and whether Rajkumar was wearing a helmet at the time. Both vehicles, bearing extensive front-end damage, have been seized. A case has been registered under BNS sections 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 106 (causing death by negligence). CCTV footage is being analyzed, and inquiries are underway to trace the car driver.
