Delivery Executive's Parcels Vanish During Salt Lake Delivery

A 21-year-old parcel delivery worker fell victim to theft in Kolkata's upscale Salt Lake area on Wednesday afternoon, losing at least 25 items from his delivery vehicle. The incident has left the young delivery executive distressed and police scrambling for clues.

The Unfortunate Incident Details

Arup Rajbanshi, a resident of Khesar village in Murshidabad who currently lives in Salt Lake, experienced the theft around 4 pm on Wednesday while performing his routine delivery duties. The delivery executive, who works for a popular parcel delivery service, had entered a property in DL Block to deliver a package, leaving his delivery bag containing 25 parcels on the road outside.

According to the complaint filed at Bidhannagar East Police Station, Rajbanshi had parked his two-wheeler at DL-195 and left his delivery bag on the road in front of the house while he went inside to complete a delivery. This routine practice turned disastrous when he returned to find his delivery bag completely missing.

Police Investigation Underway

The victim immediately searched the surrounding area but could not locate either the bag or the valuable parcels it contained. Rajbanshi suspects that miscreants took advantage of his brief absence to steal the delivery bag.

Following the discovery, Rajbanshi lodged an official complaint at the Bidhannagar East Police Station, leading to the registration of a case under Section 303(2) of BNS. Law enforcement authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the matter.

Police officials confirmed they are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and questioning local residents to gather potential leads about the suspects. The investigation aims to identify the perpetrators and recover the stolen parcels.

Broader Implications for Delivery Workers

This incident highlights the vulnerability faced by delivery personnel who often need to leave their vehicles unattended briefly while completing deliveries. The theft not only causes financial loss to the company but also creates significant stress and potential liability for the delivery executive.

Local authorities have urged delivery companies and their employees to exercise extra caution when leaving parcels unattended, even for short periods. The police investigation continues as they work to solve this case and prevent similar incidents in the future.
