In a significant operation, Deoghar police in Jharkhand thwarted a potential criminal incident on Saturday night by arresting five youths and seizing a firearm along with a live cartridge from a four-wheeler they were traveling in.
Police Action Based on Intelligence
According to police officials, they received specific information that a group of criminals was moving around the city in a vehicle with the intention of committing a major crime. Acting promptly on the tip-off, town police station officer-in-charge Rajiv Kumar formed a special raiding team and intensified surveillance across Deoghar.
Interception and Seizure
During the operation, the team intercepted a suspicious four-wheeler and conducted a thorough search. The search led to the recovery of an illegal pistol and one live cartridge. Following this, all five occupants were taken into custody.
The arrested accused have been identified as Shailesh Kumar Das, Arvind Kumar Das, Golu Mahto alias Golu Pasi, Lalla alias Vijay, and Rohan alias Pintu. Police said all are in their mid-to-late 20s and residents of different police station areas in Deoghar district.
Alleged Conspiracy and Legal Action
Police officials revealed that the accused were allegedly conspiring to commit a major crime in an organized manner, but timely intervention prevented the planned incident. Deputy Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Kumar stated on Sunday, A case has been registered at Deoghar Town Police Station. The accused have been booked under different sections of the BNS, along with sections under the Arms Act.
He added, Further investigation is underway, and more details are expected to emerge in the coming days on the basis of interrogation of the arrested accused.
The swift action by the Deoghar police has been widely appreciated by local residents, who feel safer following the arrests. The police continue to investigate the background of the accused and any possible links to other criminal networks.
