During this official tour, he convened a high-level meeting with senior police officials to assess ongoing operations and provide strategic directives.
Meeting Highlights and Key Directives from the Top Police Official
The meeting was held at the district police office auditorium, where DGP Saleem commended the proactive measures implemented by the Udupi police to maintain communal harmony across the district. He instructed the force to persist with these efforts, emphasizing the importance of a peaceful social environment.
Saleem directed strict and immediate action against rowdy elements and individuals involved in illegal activities, underscoring a zero-tolerance policy towards lawlessness. He highlighted the critical role of police vigilance in upholding public safety and order.
Appreciation for Aasare Programme and Emphasis on Community Policing
During the discussions, DGP Saleem expressed his appreciation for the successful implementation of the Aasare programme. This initiative was originally introduced by him during his tenure as the Udupi district Superintendent of Police and has since been expanded across Karnataka, with Udupi district achieving full implementation.
He advocated for strengthening other community policing systems, such as regular police visits to homes, the Spandana grievance redressal mechanism, and Child Helplines. These systems are designed to foster closer ties between the police and the community, enhancing trust and cooperation.
Udupi District Praised as Educationally Advanced and Peace-Loving
Saleem noted that the citizens of Udupi district are well-educated and inherently peace-loving, contributing to the region's stable social fabric. He drew a parallel between the district's educational leadership and its potential in policing.
Just as Udupi district stands at the forefront educationally, he advised that the Udupi district police should also strive to become a model police force at both the state and national levels. This vision aims to set benchmarks in efficiency, community engagement, and law enforcement excellence.
