DGP Harish Kumar Gupta Chairs High-Level Meeting to Review Pushkaralu 2027 Preparations in Rajahmundry
In a significant move to ensure the smooth and incident-free conduct of the upcoming Pushkaralu 2027, Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta chaired a crucial review meeting at the district police office in Rajahmundry on Sunday. The meeting focused on comprehensive planning and coordination among all departments involved in the massive religious event.
Key Directives for Enhanced Coordination and Technology Integration
Speaking at the meeting, DGP Gupta emphasized the need for seamless inter-departmental coordination to manage the expected influx of devotees. He issued several directives aimed at leveraging modern technology and best practices from similar large-scale gatherings.
AI-Based Traffic Management: The DGP stressed the implementation of AI-based ASTRAM (Actionable Intelligence for Sustainable Traffic Management) for effective traffic regulation and planning. This system is expected to optimize traffic flow and reduce congestion during the event.
Learning from Kumbh Mela and Advanced Surveillance Measures
Gupta instructed authorities to send a special team to study the recent Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj, aiming to incorporate successful strategies and avoid past pitfalls. He further advocated for the installation of 24×7 CCTV surveillance at all ghats, integrated with a central command control centre for real-time monitoring.
To enhance crowd management, he suggested using drones equipped with public address systems to provide live updates to devotees, ensuring better communication and safety. Additionally, joint aerial surveys using ONGC helicopters were directed to assess logistical needs from above.
Infrastructure and Volunteer Mobilization Plans
The DGP highlighted the importance of maintaining robust communication with state and district border police for coordinated traffic control. He also called for the development of efficient queue systems in consultation with TTD authorities, coupled with awareness campaigns to guide devotees.
Volunteer services from organizations like NCC and NSS will be utilized to support crowd management efforts. Furthermore, authorities were asked to prepare detailed data on current population and vehicle density in Rajahmundry, projecting future growth to tailor infrastructure accordingly.
Logistical Support for Staff: Centralized Food Facilities
In a move to ensure staff welfare, DGP Gupta directed officials to arrange centralized food facilities (cloud kitchens) for personnel working during Pushkaralu. This initiative aims to provide nutritious meals efficiently, keeping staff energized throughout the event.
Overall, the meeting underscored a proactive approach, blending traditional planning with cutting-edge technology to make Pushkaralu 2027 a safe and memorable experience for all participants.
