Dhanbad Police Clears 410 Cases, Pendency Drops by 50%

Dhanbad Police Achieves Significant Reduction in Pending Criminal Cases

In a notable development for law enforcement in Dhanbad, the police department has reported a substantial improvement in case disposal rates for the month of March. According to data revealed during a monthly crime review meeting held on Friday, a total of 337 criminal cases were registered by Dhanbad police in March. However, in a positive turn, 410 cases were successfully disposed of during the same period. This means that 73 more cases were resolved than were newly registered, indicating a proactive approach to clearing the backlog.

SSP Prabhat Kumar Highlights Drastic Drop in Pendency

The meeting was chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhat Kumar, who provided insights into the department's performance. SSP Kumar emphasized that the number of pending cases has seen a remarkable decline, dropping to 1,935 from approximately 4,300 in May of the previous year. He attributed this significant reduction to several key factors, including proactive policing, continuous monitoring, improved efficiency, clear accountability, and time-bound action by officers at all levels. Kumar stressed that this positive trend must be sustained to further alleviate the burden of pending cases and enhance public safety.

Directives Issued for Further Case Disposal and Security Measures

During the review, SSP Kumar issued specific directives to senior personnel, including SP (Rural) Kapil Chaudhary and SP (City) Ritvik Srivastava. He instructed all police station in-charges to execute at least 50% of pending warrants to expedite legal processes. Additionally, out of nearly 1,000 pending unnatural death cases, orders were given to ensure the prompt disposal of at least 500 cases, aiming to bring closure to these sensitive matters.

A high alert has been issued, with directives for tight security measures, including CCTV surveillance and deployment of patrolling teams at all examination centers to prevent any disruptions.

Public Cooperation and Strict Action Against Disruptions

SSP Kumar urged citizens to play an active role in maintaining law and order by promptly reporting any criminal activity, extortion, or threats. He also issued a stern warning, stating that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt peace and order in the district. This call for public cooperation underscores the department's commitment to collaborative efforts in crime prevention and resolution.

The achievements highlighted in the meeting reflect a concerted effort by Dhanbad police to enhance operational efficiency and reduce case backlogs, contributing to a safer environment for the community.
