Dhar: 75-year-old booked for raping teen at home

Police in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district have registered a case against a 75-year-old man for the alleged repeated rape of a 19-year-old girl at his residence in Jalkheda village. The incident, which came to light this week, has sent shockwaves through the local community.

Complaint Filed After Months of Alleged Abuse

The case was registered at the Bakaner police outpost, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Manawar police station. According to the official statement, the survivor, accompanied by her father, approached the police on Wednesday evening to file a formal complaint.

The complainant stated that the alleged assaults occurred on multiple occasions between June 17 and December 23 of this year. The visits took place when the young woman went to the accused's house for household work. After learning about the horrific incidents, her parents immediately took her to the police to ensure legal action was initiated.

Legal Action and Investigation Details

Officer in charge of the Bakaner outpost, Prashant Pal, confirmed that a case has been filed against the accused under specific sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The charges include sections 64(1), 64(2)(m), and 64(2)(k) of the new criminal code.

The police have confirmed a critical piece of evidence: the medical examination of the survivor has been conducted, and it has confirmed the commission of rape. This step is crucial for building a strong case against the accused.

Accused Yet to Be Arrested

As part of the ongoing investigative procedure, the authorities have stated that the accused has not been arrested yet. The delay is attributed to the pending medical examination of the accused himself, which is a standard protocol in such investigations before an arrest can be made.

The village of Jalkheda, located approximately 15 kilometers from the Manawar police station, is now the center of this distressing case. The police are continuing their investigation to gather all necessary evidence and ensure due process is followed.
