Teenager Fatally Stabs Friend in Dhule Following Petty Pigeon Argument
A minor dispute between two 16-year-old friends over pigeons escalated into a deadly stabbing in Dhule's Sakri area on Saturday night, resulting in one teenager's death and the arrest of the attacker's parents for attempting to cover up the crime.
Violent Altercation Over Pigeon Collection Turns Deadly
The tragic incident occurred around 10:30 PM at Maharana Pratap Chowk, where the two boys, both residents of the same neighborhood and members of the same minority community, had been friends with a shared passion for collecting pigeons. According to police reports, the fatal confrontation stemmed from a minor quarrel that had taken place earlier that day around 4 PM regarding their pigeon collection.
"We have seized the knife used in the crime and are investigating the case from all angles," stated Inspector Deepak Valvi of the Sakri police station. "That is why we have arrested the boy's parents too."
Parents Attempt Elaborate Cover-Up Operation
Following the stabbing, the accused teenager and his mother descended from their terrace, claiming that tribal youths had invaded their property to steal pigeons and had just fled the scene. The victim's uncle, who had heard loud voices and screams from the terrace, grew suspicious and discovered his nephew lying in a pool of blood.
The accused boy's father, identified as a local businessman, arrived shortly afterward in his SUV and reinforced the false robbery narrative, telling gathered neighbors that unknown youths had attacked both boys. He then attempted to leave with his wife and son under the pretense of filing a police complaint about the supposed robbery.
Police Investigation Uncovers Truth
Local authorities arrived at the scene promptly after receiving information about the incident. Their investigation quickly revealed inconsistencies in the family's story, leading to the detention of the 16-year-old attacker on Saturday and the subsequent arrest of both parents on Sunday.
The victim, who lived with his grandfather and maternal uncle just a few houses away from the accused, had lost his mother during the COVID-19 pandemic. His father had remarried and resided separately in Nandurbar with his new wife.
No Communal Angle to the Case
Police officials have confirmed that both teenagers belonged to the same minority community, and there is no communal dimension to this tragic incident. The investigation continues as authorities examine all aspects of the case, including the parents' attempted cover-up and the circumstances that led to such extreme violence between former friends.
This shocking case highlights how minor disputes can escalate into fatal violence and demonstrates the serious legal consequences of attempting to obstruct justice, even for family members of the perpetrator.
