Dhurwa Dam Car Plunge: Three Confirmed Dead, Fourth Missing

Ranchi witnessed a heartbreaking tragedy as rescue teams recovered three bodies from Dhurwa Dam after a car plunged into the reservoir on Friday night. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) continues its desperate search for a fourth victim for the second consecutive day on Sunday.

The devastating incident occurred when the vehicle carrying four people fell into the dam under circumstances that police believe involved a collision with another vehicle. Authorities have filed an FIR against an unknown driver under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash and negligent driving leading to death.

Victims Identified as Court Staff and Drivers

On Saturday, recovery teams successfully retrieved the bodies of three victims from the submerged vehicle. The deceased have been identified as Upendra Singh and Robin Kumar, both serving as policemen and bodyguards for the principal and district judge of the family court in East Singhbhum.

The third victim recovered was Anil Singh, who worked as the driver for the judge. The fourth person, still missing and presumed drowned, is Satyendra Singh, also a driver by profession. Police authorities confirmed that uncertainty remains about whether Anil Singh or Satyendra Singh was driving the ill-fated car at the time of the accident.

Ongoing Investigation and Recovery Efforts

Police officials have stated they are certain that four individuals, including Satyendra Singh, drowned in the tragic accident. However, they will officially record only three deaths until the fourth body is recovered. The NDRF team has committed to continuing their search operations on Monday.

Praveen Kumar, the officer in charge of Nagri police station, provided details about the legal proceedings. "We have filed a case against an unknown vehicle under the BNS for rash and negligent driving causing death in connection with the incident," he stated. "We are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to determine the exact sequence of events."

The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the local community, particularly affecting the judicial community where the victims were employed. The incident highlights the continuing dangers of negligent driving and the importance of water safety measures around reservoir areas.
