Dimapur Police Implements Drone Ban for Republic Day Celebrations
The Dimapur police commissionerate has announced stringent restrictions on the operation of drones and remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) within its jurisdiction on January 26. This decisive move aims to bolster security arrangements for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, ensuring a safe and orderly environment for all participants and spectators.
Security Zones Declared as No-Fly Areas
In an official order issued on Thursday, Dimapur commissioner of police Aotula T Imchen invoked Rule 24 of the Drone Rules, 2021. The directive specifies that areas within a 2-kilometer radius around selected key locations have been designated as 'red zones', effectively establishing them as no-fly zones. This restriction will be enforced from 2 am to 6 pm on Republic Day, covering the entire duration of the celebrations and related events.
Key Venues Under Enhanced Surveillance
The locations identified as red zones include prominent public grounds and stadiums that are expected to host Republic Day events. These are:
- Dimapur DDSC Stadium
- Chumoukedima Samaguting Stadium
- Niuland public ground
These venues are central to the day's festivities, making their security a top priority for law enforcement agencies.
Strict Compliance Required
According to the police order, during the stipulated time frame, no individual will be permitted to operate any drone or remotely piloted aircraft in these designated areas without obtaining prior authorization from the competent authority. This measure is part of a broader strategy to prevent any potential security threats and ensure that the celebrations proceed without disruptions.
The imposition of these restrictions reflects the Dimapur police's proactive approach to maintaining public safety during significant national events. By controlling aerial activities, authorities aim to mitigate risks and provide a secure atmosphere for citizens to commemorate Republic Day with pride and patriotism.
