Tragic Overspeeding Accident in Farrukhabad Claims Young Life

A devastating incident unfolded in Farrukhabad on Sunday evening when a DJ-laden tractor trolley overturned due to overspeeding, leading to the death of a 10-year-old boy and injuries to 11 people, including family members. The tragedy occurred as the group was returning from a Ganga bath at Dhaighat, casting a shadow over what was meant to be a spiritual outing.

Details of the Fatal Crash

The accident took place near Budhi Ganga at Dhalghat in the late evening hours. According to police reports, approximately 50 people from village Milikiya Paharpur in the Nawabganj police station area were travelling in two tractor-trolleys after taking a bath in the holy river. One of the tractor-trolleys was equipped with a DJ system, with more than 12 youths dancing on it during the journey.

Police stated that a race ensued between the drivers of the two vehicles as they attempted to overtake each other. This reckless behavior caused the overspeeding DJ-laden tractor's trolley to lose control and overturn on the road. All individuals riding in the trolley, including the youths, sustained injuries in the crash.

Emergency Response and Casualties

Upon receiving information about the incident, police and two ambulances rushed to the spot. The injured were transported to the Community Health Centre for admission. Dr. Aleem, attending to the victims, declared 10-year-old Ritik, son of Ram Lakhan, dead at the scene. A seriously injured 12-year-old girl, Prachi, daughter of Awdhesh, was referred to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for advanced medical care.

Other injured individuals admitted to the hospital included Rajrani (40), Ashu (13) son of Keshav, Bijendra (20) son of Suresh, Nikhil, and the driver Nitin. Four others with minor injuries received treatment from private doctors. The body of the deceased child was sent for postmortem examination as per protocol.

Community Reaction and Police Statement

As news of the tragic accident spread, a crowd of villagers gathered at the Community Health Centre, expressing grief and concern over the incident. Station officer Ramesh Singh confirmed that the child's death resulted from the trolley overturning. He stated, "The body has been sent for postmortem, and other injured have been admitted to CHC for treatment." The incident highlights the dangers of overspeeding and reckless driving, especially during festive or religious gatherings.
