A Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) officer, Kamal Kishore Mahto, aged 30, was discovered hanging from a tree on a hillock in the Talatand area under Patratu police station limits of Ramgarh district on Tuesday morning. Police stated that prima facie Mahto died by suicide, and further investigation is ongoing. The body was taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination.
Sequence of Events
According to police, a relative woke up at around 2 am and found Mahto missing from his bed. A search was immediately launched, leading to the recovery of his body on the hill near his house. Mahto was a Grade 1 officer in the DRDO, police confirmed.
Investigation Underway
The incident sent shockwaves through the local area as investigators worked to establish the circumstances leading to the death. Officials said all angles were being examined, though initial findings pointed to suicide. Police are awaiting the post-mortem report as part of the ongoing probe.
