Notorious Drug Kingpin Ramesh Kumar Arrested in Kolkata Operation

Rajasthan's Anti Narcotics Task Force made a significant breakthrough on Saturday. The ANTF team arrested notorious drug mafia figure Ramesh Kumar in Kolkata, West Bengal. Kumar, aged 31 and originally from Barmer district, faced transport to Dhorimnna in Barmer following his capture.

Multiple Criminal Cases Across Five States

Ramesh Kumar carries an extensive criminal record. Police records show thirty-one separate cases against him across five different Indian states. These charges include serious offenses like drug trafficking, robbery, assault, vehicle theft, liquor smuggling, ransom demands, and kidnapping.

The Barmer MJM court saw Kumar presented before it on Saturday. Authorities sought his remand for further investigation into his alleged criminal activities.

Undercover Operation Lasted Months

Dhorimnna Station Officer Deep Singh Chauhan revealed details of the elaborate operation. Anti-terrorism squad members and ANTF personnel spent months working undercover in West Bengal. These officers disguised themselves as laborers to gather intelligence and track Kumar's movements.

Their patient surveillance finally paid off with Kumar's arrest. The special team then transferred custody to Barmer police on Saturday, completing the interstate operation.

Public Parade Sends Strong Message

Police took an unusual step after bringing Kumar to Barmer. ANTF teams and Dhorimnna police officers paraded the accused through main market areas. They walked him approximately one kilometer on foot before presenting him to the court.

Station Officer Chauhan explained this deliberate action. The public display aimed to send a strict warning to other drug traffickers in the region. It demonstrated police determination to continue aggressive action against narcotics networks operating in Rajasthan.

Court Grants Police Remand for Interrogation

The MJM Barmer court responded to police requests by granting two days of remand. Dhorimnna police will interrogate Kumar regarding a specific 2018 kidnapping and ransom case during this period.

Investigators believe Kumar represents more than just another criminal. Police suspect he operates as the primary kingpin controlling methamphetamine manufacturing across western Rajasthan. Multiple MD manufacturing units discovered in Jodhpur, Barmer, Sirohi, and other locations allegedly connect directly to his operations.

This arrest marks a substantial victory for Rajasthan's anti-narcotics efforts. It disrupts what authorities describe as a major drug manufacturing and distribution network affecting multiple districts.
