Ranchi: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the police arrested a drug peddler and recovered approximately 32 grams of brown sugar during a raid in the city's Chutia area on Friday. The operation was conducted by a team led by the Kotwali additional superintendent of police.
Arrest and Recovery
The accused has been identified as Sunil Nayak (28), a resident of Ramgarh district. During the raid, Nayak was caught red-handed while selling brown sugar, according to police officials. The swift action by the police team led to the seizure of the illicit substance and the arrest of the peddler.
Legal Proceedings
Following the arrest, a case was registered at the Chutia police station under Sections 21(b), 22, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused was subsequently produced before the court and sent to judicial custody. The police are continuing their investigation to trace the source of the brown sugar and any possible links to larger drug networks.
This arrest marks another step in the ongoing efforts by the Ranchi police to combat drug abuse and trafficking in the region. The authorities have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities related to drug peddling to help maintain law and order.
