Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Crime Branch Cracks Down on Major Drug Network

In a significant breakthrough, the city crime branch of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar successfully dismantled a sophisticated drug racket following meticulously planned raids at two separate locations. The operation, which unfolded on Wednesday, resulted in the seizure of narcotics, cash, and valuable items collectively valued at an impressive Rs 18 lakh, as confirmed by police officials.

Four Suspects Apprehended in Coordinated Police Action

Law enforcement authorities have taken four individuals into custody in connection with this illicit drug distribution network. The arrested persons have been identified as Sheikh Kaleem Sheikh Sardar (35), Anita Parthode (20), Sheikh Mustaq Sheikh Isak (27), and Avinash Pachunde (23). Their apprehension marks a crucial step in disrupting the flow of illegal substances within the region.

Intelligence-Driven Operation Leads to Major Seizures

Inspector Gajanan Kalyankar of the crime branch revealed that this decisive action was initiated based on specific intelligence gathered through a confidential informant. "The accused had strategically concealed MD-like drugs and codeine-based cough syrup at different locations to evade detection," Kalyankar explained. "Our raids were conducted with the expert assistance of a drug inspector and forensic specialists, ensuring proper handling and documentation of the seized contraband and other valuables."

The police operation yielded substantial evidence from the targeted premises:

  • During the raid at Kaleem's residence in Ravindra Nagar, authorities recovered 53.3 grams of MD (methadone), cash amounting to Rs 3.4 lakh, gold and silver ornaments valued at approximately Rs 7.4 lakh, and multiple mobile handsets.
  • Kaleem reportedly confessed to investigators that he sourced the drugs from an individual named Ashpak Patel and distributed them with the assistance of 15 to 20 associates.
  • A subsequent search at Pachunde's house led to the confiscation of 756 bottles of codeine phosphate and triprolidine hydrochloride cough syrup, with an estimated worth exceeding Rs 3 lakh.

Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation

A formal case has been registered at the Jinsi police station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Police officials have emphasized that the investigation remains active, with efforts focused on uncovering the full extent of the racket and identifying any additional accomplices or supply chains involved.

This operation underscores the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar police's commitment to combating drug-related crimes and safeguarding community well-being through proactive law enforcement measures.
