Drug Trafficker Arrested, 9 Kg Heroin Seized in Bhiwani

A suspected drug trafficker was arrested, and nearly 9 kilograms of heroin valued at Rs 10 crore were seized from his rented house in Bhiwani during a raid conducted by a special task force (STF) unit. The accused, identified as Rohit, a resident of Pirawali village in Hisar, allegedly stored a large quantity of heroin, locally known as chitta, in his rented accommodation located in Indra Colony, Bhiwani. From there, he was supplying the contraband in small packets. The heroin was discovered hidden inside a cupboard in his house.

Raid and Legal Action

Acting on a tip-off, the STF team conducted a raid under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, in the presence of a duty magistrate. Following the seizure, a case was registered at the Civil Lines police station in Bhiwani under Section 21(C) of the NDPS Act.

Accused's Revelations

During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had brought large consignments of the drug from the Haryana-Punjab border area approximately eight to nine times over the past six months. He then supplied the heroin through his associates in Bhiwani, Hisar, and Jind, according to police officials. Authorities suspect that the accused has trafficked more than 20 kilograms of heroin during this period.

Further Investigation

The accused will be produced before a Bhiwani court and taken on remand for further questioning. DSP Preet Pal stated that the police are now investigating the larger supply network and attempting to identify other traffickers linked to the racket.
