Drunk Audi Driver Abducts Motorcyclist in Mumbai

In a shocking incident that unfolded on Mumbai's streets, a heavily intoxicated Audi driver allegedly abducted a 24-year-old motorcyclist while demanding sexual favors. The terrifying episode occurred in the early hours of Thursday, sending shockwaves through the city.

The Abduction Incident

The accused, identified as Rajeev Mohan Shetty (38), reportedly approached the victim near Haji Ali around 2:30 AM on May 23. According to police reports, Shetty was driving a white Audi Q3 luxury SUV when he blocked the path of the motorcyclist who was returning home from work.

Eyewitness accounts and police investigation reveal that Shetty, who was visibly drunk, stepped out of his vehicle and began harassing the young man. The situation escalated rapidly when Shetty allegedly forced the victim into his Audi against his will. During the forced car ride, the accused repeatedly demanded sexual favors from the terrified motorcyclist.

Police Intervention and Arrest

The victim's ordeal finally ended when alert police officers from the Tardeo police station noticed the suspicious vehicle and intervened. Upon stopping the Audi and questioning both individuals, the officers quickly realized that a crime was in progress.

Senior police inspector Avinash Dharmadhikari confirmed that Rajeev Mohan Shetty has been arrested under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code. The charges include sections 363 (kidnapping), 342 (wrongful confinement), and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), though in this case the victim is male.

Police authorities have emphasized that the accused was heavily under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. A medical examination has been conducted to confirm his blood alcohol levels, which will serve as crucial evidence in the case.

Growing Concerns About Road Safety

This incident has raised serious concerns about road safety and drunk driving in Mumbai, particularly involving luxury vehicle owners who might believe they are above the law. Local residents and traffic safety advocates have expressed alarm at the brazen nature of the crime.

This case highlights the continuing problem of drunk driving in Indian cities, despite stringent laws and regular police checks. The fact that the accused felt emboldened enough to not only drive drunk but also commit a serious crime like abduction has shocked the community.

The Tardeo police have assured the public that they are treating this case with utmost seriousness and will ensure that justice is served. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining CCTV footage from the area and gathering additional evidence to strengthen their case against the accused.
