A tragic road accident in Ahmedabad's Hatkeshwar area claimed the life of a 50-year-old man and left another seriously injured after an allegedly intoxicated driver lost control of his vehicle and struck their motorcycle. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, prompting a police complaint and swift action against the suspect.
Details of the Incident
According to the complaint registered with the I Division traffic police on Thursday, the collision took place around 12:45 AM on Jogeshwari Road, near Jivan Jyot Nagar gate in Hatkeshwar. The complaint was filed by Nikunj Vaghela, the son of the deceased, Babu. The victims were traveling on a motorcycle when a car, reportedly driven at high speed and in a reckless manner, slammed into them.
Injuries and Medical Response
Babu sustained severe injuries to his head, hands, and legs. He was rushed to LG Hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The pillion rider, identified as Lala Pagi, suffered serious injuries to his shoulder and head and was undergoing medical care.
Arrest of the Driver
The car driver, Rahul Sumera, has been apprehended by the police. Witnesses at the scene reported that Sumera appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the crash.
