A drunk truck driver rammed his vehicle into four different cars, causing damages worth lakhs of rupees on the Jabalpur highway near Pipla Fata on Sunday night. The incident occurred around 8:30 pm when the driver, identified as Surendra Tiwari (32), a resident of Malegaon, Ramtek, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
Chain of Collisions
The truck first collided head-on with the car of retired police sub-inspector Manoharrao Ramaji Chachane (68), a resident of Hudkeshwar. Shortly after, the truck hit the car of Ravi Bhoyar from behind before fleeing the scene. About a kilometer ahead, the driver lost control again, ramming into Harshal Jayswal's car and another vehicle.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in any of the collisions, despite the significant damage caused to the vehicles. The total damage is estimated to be in lakhs of rupees.
Police Action
After the first collision, Chachane immediately informed his son and the police control room. Hudkeshwar police officers rushed to the spot and arrested Tiwari. The truck was seized by the authorities. A case of accident has been registered against the driver under relevant sections of the law.
The police are investigating the incident and have urged citizens to report any such reckless driving incidents promptly. The accused driver is currently in custody and will be produced before the court.
