Cold Bhajiya Argument Turns Deadly: Raipur Dairy Worker Kills Friend in Drunken Rage
Drunken fight over cold fritters leads to murder in Raipur

A seemingly trivial dispute over a plate of cold snacks, meant to accompany drinks, culminated in a horrific murder in Raipur on late Wednesday. The incident, captured on chilling CCTV footage, saw a young dairy worker allegedly beat and stab his close friend to death inside their shared room.

A Deadly Escalation Over Cold Fritters

According to the Raipur police, the two friends, identified as Sunny Sahu, 22, and Durgesh Satnami, 24, were drinking together in their living quarters at a milk dairy in the Kachna region. The night took a violent turn when Durgesh, who had stepped out to buy 'bhajiya' (fritters), returned with the food. Sunny complained that the fritters were cold, sparking a minor taunt.

Under the heavy influence of alcohol, what began as a petty argument quickly spiraled into a heated confrontation. In a fit of uncontrollable rage, Sunny allegedly threw Durgesh to the ground. The assault then intensified, with Sunny raining kicks and punches on his friend.

CCTV Captures the Brutal Assault

The police stated that the closed-circuit television footage from the dairy premises paints a gruesome picture of the event. The video reportedly shows the accused, Sunny Sahu, dragging his friend, assaulting him repeatedly, and later attacking him with a knife and an iron rod. The brutal attack left Durgesh collapsed on the floor, bleeding profusely from his wounds.

In a tragic turn of events, after realizing the severity of the assault, Sunny lifted his injured friend and took him to a hospital for treatment. However, the doctors declared Durgesh dead on arrival. Witnesses at the medical facility told investigators that Sunny sat beside his friend's body and wept inconsolably, allegedly expressing deep remorse for his actions.

Investigation and Aftermath

The hospital authorities immediately informed the police. Meanwhile, the dairy owner had already alerted the authorities after discovering blood stains and dragging marks on the floor of the empty room and finding both men missing. Two separate police teams were dispatched to the hospital and the dairy.

Subsequent scrutiny of the CCTV footage confirmed the sequence of events, showing Sunny attacking Durgesh with a rod and a knife. Acting on technical inputs, the police took Sunny Sahu into custody. During questioning, officers said he confessed that the argument over "cold bhajiya" while drinking led to the fatal fight where he assaulted Durgesh with an iron rod.

The police have registered a case of murder under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Khamhardih police station in Raipur. Sunny was produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Investigators noted that the two men were considered good friends and had been working together for some time. Yet, in one fateful night, a combination of alcohol and unchecked anger transformed their friendship into a grim crime scene.
