Drunken SUV Rampage at ARTO's Kanpur Home: Guard Narrowly Escapes Death

In a shocking late-night incident in Kanpur, a speeding SUV crashed into the house of an Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), causing extensive damage and putting lives at risk. The terrifying event unfolded in the Rawatpur police station area, where the vehicle first smashed through the guard room, then broke the main gate before entering the premises, according to police officials.

Miraculous Escape for Watchman

The watchman on duty had a miraculous escape from what could have been a fatal accident. He had gone inside the premises to drink water approximately one minute before the violent crash occurred. This simple act of quenching his thirst likely saved his life as the SUV demolished the very structure where he would have been stationed.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the residence, providing crucial evidence of the destructive sequence of events that took place around 2 am. The footage shows the vehicle's reckless approach and the devastating impact on the property.

Violent Aftermath and Police Intervention

Following the crash, the situation escalated further when the car driver and his companions reportedly abused and assaulted the guard. They attempted to flee the scene but were prevented from doing so by nearby residents who intervened promptly. The guard immediately dialed the emergency number 112 to inform the police about the dangerous situation.

Personnel from the Rawatpur police station quickly reached the spot after receiving the information. They took two youths into custody along with the vehicle and brought them to the police station for further investigation. The driver was identified as Karan Bhadauriya.

Station in-charge Kamlesh Rai confirmed that the car driver was in an intoxicated state at the time of the incident, highlighting the dangerous combination of alcohol and reckless driving that led to this destructive event.

Background of the Affected Family

The house belongs to ARTO Rajesh Rajput, a resident of Vikas Nagar in Rawatpur who is currently posted in Mathura. His family includes his wife, Sheela Rajput, and their two children, who live away from home for their educational pursuits. Rajput was transferred from Kanpur to Mathura approximately two years ago as part of his official duties.

Sheela Rajput revealed that she had traveled to Mathura with her husband just two days before the incident occurred, leaving the house temporarily unoccupied except for the security personnel. This timing meant the family members were not present during what could have been a much more tragic event had they been home.

Legal Action Initiated

Sheela Rajput filed a formal written complaint at the Rawatpur police station, demanding appropriate action against those responsible for the damage and endangerment. Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered based on the written complaint, and further legal proceedings are underway.

The incident has raised serious concerns about road safety and the consequences of drunk driving in residential areas. The extensive property damage combined with the clear threat to human life has prompted authorities to take strict action against the offenders involved in this dangerous episode.
