The forest department in Dumka has initiated a formal probe following a significant fire that erupted at its timber dump yard located behind Godda College. The blaze, which occurred on Monday evening, resulted in the destruction of thousands of valuable logs, according to official statements.

Sources within the department revealed that approximately 10,000 logs were stored at the site, with more than half of them being completely consumed by the flames. Preliminary assessments indicate that the financial loss amounts to several lakhs of rupees, highlighting the severity of the incident.
