Dwarka Expressway Robbery: Police Nab Three Accused, Recover Rs 12 Lakh
In a significant breakthrough, Delhi Police have arrested three individuals linked to a high-profile robbery on the Dwarka Expressway, where approximately Rs 15 lakh was stolen. The incident, which occurred nearly a week ago, has seen investigators recover nearly Rs 12 lakh of the looted cash, marking a substantial step forward in the case.
Details of the Robbery and Initial Investigation
The robbery was reported on April 6 near Sector-22 in Dwarka, where the accused allegedly targeted a victim on the expressway, making off with a substantial sum of money. Following the report, a formal case was registered at the Dwarka Sector-23 police station, prompting authorities to form a dedicated team to probe the matter thoroughly.
Investigators quickly sprang into action, analyzing evidence and pursuing leads to identify the perpetrators behind this brazen crime.
Arrests and Recovery of Stolen Cash
The first arrest in the case came with the apprehension of Sandeep, a 29-year-old resident of Hari Nagar. During interrogation, Sandeep provided crucial information that led police to his associate, Santosh Mehto, also 29 years old. Mehto was tracked down and arrested from a hotel in Nangloi, with police recovering Rs 10 lakh from his possession. Additionally, authorities seized a mobile phone that was allegedly purchased using the robbed money, further linking him to the crime.
Further investigation revealed the involvement of a third accused, Suraj Sonkar, a 23-year-old resident of Sadar Bazar. Sonkar was subsequently apprehended, and police recovered around Rs 2 lakh from him. In a key development, investigators also identified the scooty used in the commission of the robbery, adding to the evidence against the accused.

DCP (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh commented on the case, stating, "The arrests and recoveries demonstrate our commitment to tackling such crimes swiftly. We are continuing our investigation to trace the remaining amount and ensure all involved are brought to justice."
