Former RJD MLA Faces PMLA Case Over Organized Crime Network

The Enforcement Directorate is preparing to file a Prevention of Money Laundering Act case against Ritlal Rai, the former RJD MLA from Danapur, following a detailed investigation report submitted by Patna police that exposes his alleged involvement in running an organized criminal syndicate.

The comprehensive police investigation reveals that Rai and his associates systematically accumulated crores of rupees through extortion and illegal land acquisition across the Danapur constituency.

Police Investigation Uncovers Extensive Criminal Operations

According to the investigation conducted jointly by Khagaul police station and a special investigation team, Roy and his criminal network forcibly occupied government land, constructed illegal structures, and regularly extorted money from builders and landowners using violent threats.

The police report provides specific details about the gang's activities, including the encroachment of 3 acres of government land in Kotwan mouza where they constructed a massive boundary wall. The investigation also found that Ramashish Chowk in Kothwan village, named after Roy's late father, was illegally built on public land.

In Mustafapur mouza, the criminal group built 16 shops on 76 decimals of illegally acquired land and continues to collect rental income through their members operating the properties.

Official Confirmation and Current Status

Patna SSP Kartikeya K Sharma confirmed that the investigation report has been formally submitted to the Enforcement Directorate by Patna police. "There are several charges against Ritlal, including organized criminal syndicate and extortion, land grabbing for personal gains, and intimidation," Sharma stated.

Ritlal Rai and his brother Pinku Yadav are currently incarcerated after a builder named Kumar Gaurav filed a complaint in April this year. The complaint accused them of demanding Rs 50 lakh and threatening to kill him if the payment wasn't made.

The Enforcement Directorate's impending PMLA case represents a significant escalation in the legal proceedings against the former legislator, potentially leading to more severe financial consequences and extended imprisonment if convictions are secured.
