ED Raids Al-Falah University in Delhi Over Red Fort Terror Blast Probe
ED raids Al-Falah University in Delhi terror blast case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched extensive raids on Tuesday morning targeting Al-Falah University's office in Delhi's Okhla area as part of an ongoing investigation into a sophisticated terror network linked to the recent car blast near the historic Red Fort.

Massive Multi-Location Search Operation

According to official sources, the federal agency began conducting simultaneous searches at 25 different locations across the national capital starting from 5 AM. The operation represents a significant escalation in the probe into the November 10 car explosion that has now claimed 15 lives.

ED officials confirmed that the searches targeted not only the university's premises but also extended to its trustees and various associated individuals and entities. The investigation has uncovered what authorities describe as a "white-collar" terror network involving medical professionals and individuals connected to the educational institution.

Evidence Recovery and Previous Arrests

Investigators have recovered substantial evidence in the case, including a vehicle directly connected to the blast and large quantities of explosives. The probe has revealed sophisticated operational capabilities within the alleged terror module.

This development comes just one day after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested a second close associate of suspected suicide bomber Dr Umar Nabi in the Red Fort area car blast case. The arrested individual, reportedly from Kashmir, stands accused of providing technical support for terror operations, including modifying drones and attempting to develop rocket technology.

The death toll in the November 10 tragedy continues to rise, with two more victims succumbing to their injuries at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, bringing the total fatalities to 15.

University Under Multiple Investigations

On Monday, Delhi Police issued two separate summons to Al-Falah University chairman Javed Ahmad Siddiqui regarding the Faridabad terror module case and two additional cases registered against the institution for forgery and cheating.

Investigators have identified Siddiqui's statement as crucial for resolving numerous inconsistencies related to the university's operations and the activities of individuals associated with the institution. The Delhi Police Crime Branch has already filed two First Information Reports (FIRs) against the Haryana-based university.

The legal action follows serious concerns raised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) on Saturday, highlighting regulatory red flags regarding the university's functioning and credentials.

The coordinated raids and multiple investigations signal a comprehensive crackdown on what authorities believe to be a complex network using educational institutions as cover for more nefarious activities.
