Eight booked for attempted murder in Surat Vesu knife attack

Surat: The Vesu police have booked eight individuals for attempted murder after they allegedly attacked four residents with knives and other sharp-edged weapons at SMC Awas in Vesu. According to the police, the accused had gone to the housing complex searching for a man named Sultan.

When residents confronted them about carrying weapons, the group allegedly launched an attack, during which a knife became lodged in the hand of one victim. Vesu Police Inspector Jignesh Rathwa stated, 'We have arrested six persons, including a minor, in connection with the crime. The eight accused were searching for a person named Sultan, suspecting he was hiding in a house in SMC Awas. They arrived with sharp weapons, and when residents objected to their entry, the accused began attacking residents one after another.'

The incident occurred around 12:30 am when the residents, including the complainant Shani Goswami, were playing cricket. The accused first attacked Santosh Jagdev after some youths entered the society to investigate the commotion. They then confronted and attacked Bobby, Rahul Besane, and Goswami before fleeing the scene. Those arrested include Pankaj Sendane (26), Niraj Baviskar (23), Tushar Nayak (21), Tarun Panpatil (18), Pratham Dabhelkar (21), and a minor. Police are searching for two more accused, Ashu Bihari and Rakesh Mohite.
