Elderly Couple Hacked to Death in MP Land Dispute

An elderly couple was allegedly hacked to death over a land dispute in Madhya Pradesh's Tikamgarh district, police said on Sunday. The victims were identified as Chainu Ghosh, 65, and Pana Bai Ghosh, 63.

Incident Details

The incident took place late Saturday night in Ramnagar-Bachhoda village. According to police, the couple was sleeping in their field when they were attacked. Investigators found severe injury marks on their heads, hands and legs, allegedly caused by axes and sticks.

Land Dispute Motive

Police suspect the killings to be a dispute over nearly one hectare of land. According to information, the couple had been living on the farmland for the past two years. The land was reportedly transferred to Pana Bai by her father, but a dispute had been ongoing with distant relatives over ownership.

Accused and Investigation

Ratibhan Ghosh and his father Veeran Ghosh have been accused in connection with the murders. On receiving information, Digoda police went to the spot and began an investigation. A dog squad and fingerprint experts were called in to examine the crime scene. Police said all angles are being investigated, with the land dispute emerging as the primary motive behind the killings.
