In a shocking incident from Idukki district, Kerala, a 60-year-old elderly man was allegedly subjected to a brutal physical assault by a building owner and his associate. The violent attack occurred after the victim repeatedly demanded payment for his masonry work, highlighting a distressing case of wage dispute turning violent.

The victim has been identified as Shivan, aged 60, a resident of Puthenveettil house located in Kakkikavala, Vandiperiyar. According to a formal complaint lodged with the Vandiperiyar police station, Shivan sustained serious and multiple injuries during the assault. The accused individuals are named as Abbas and Hakkim, both natives of Vallakkadavu, who are reportedly contractors associated with the local panchayat slaughterhouse.
The confrontation reportedly escalated when Shivan insisted on receiving his rightful wage of Rs 1,800 for masonry services rendered. Instead of settling the payment, the accused allegedly responded with violence.
Sequence of Events Leading to Hospitalization
Shivan's wife provided a harrowing account of the incident, stating that on Friday night, Abbas and Hakkim arrived at a shop in Kakkikavala. There, they launched a brutal attack on Shivan, leaving him severely injured. The situation took a critical turn when Shivan was discovered lying unconscious on Saturday morning, prompting immediate medical intervention.
He was swiftly transported to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital for urgent treatment. Medical reports indicate that Shivan suffered extensive injuries to his face, head, hands, and legs, underscoring the severity of the assault.
Police Response and Ongoing Investigation
In response to the complaint, the Vandiperiyar police have registered a formal case against the accused. Authorities have confirmed that a thorough investigation is currently underway to gather all pertinent evidence and witness statements.
