Elderly Woman and Pet Dog Found Dead in Shivamogga Home

Shivamogga: An elderly woman and her pet dog were discovered dead under tragic circumstances inside their residence within the Jayanagar police station limits on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Prabhavathi, 60, the wife of the late Nagaraj, who was the former owner of the Janavarthe newspaper.

Details of the Incident

According to authorities, Prabhavathi lived alone in the house. It is suspected that she passed away approximately 15 to 20 days ago, as her body was found in a highly decomposed state. Her pet dog, which was inside the house with her, was also found dead. Local residents reported that Prabhavathi was last seen about two weeks ago when she bought breakfast from a nearby canteen. She was not seen outside since then.

How the Discovery Was Made

The incident came to light after a foul smell started emanating from the house, prompting neighbors to alert the Jayanagar police. Police arrived at the scene, inspected the premises, and initiated legal proceedings. Preliminary investigations suggest that she may have passed away due to health-related issues.

Family and Investigation

Prabhavathi is survived by two daughters, one residing in Shivamogga and the other in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, family members of the deceased took objection to media personnel who arrived at the scene to collect information about the incident and film the area. Jayanagar police are investigating the case. Shivamogga SP B Nikhil stated that cops will also enquire with family members.
