Elderly Woman Drugged and Robbed by Fake Domestic Helper in Greater Noida Society
In a shocking incident at a residential society in Greater Noida West, an elderly woman was allegedly drugged and robbed by a woman posing as a domestic helper. The event has sparked widespread concern among residents over security failures.
Details of the Incident
The crime occurred at Amrapali Golf Homes Kingswood Society in Gaur City 2. According to a complaint filed by Dharmendra Kumar Mishra, the victim's son, an unidentified woman arrived at their apartment around 3:30 PM on Friday while Mishra and his wife were at work. His mother, Shanti Mishra, was home with their six-month-old child.
When Shanti answered the doorbell, the woman claimed that her daughter-in-law had sent her for household chores. Trusting this story, Shanti allowed her inside. Shortly after, the helper allegedly threw a sedative substance at the elderly woman, causing her to lose consciousness.
Once Shanti fainted, the helper removed a gold chain with a locket from her neck and fled the scene. Approximately an hour later, Shanti woke up to the sound of her crying infant and immediately informed her son, who then alerted the police.
Police Response and Investigation
A team from the Bisrakh police station quickly reached the location. Officers confirmed that a case has been registered against the unidentified woman. Investigators are currently examining possible entry and exit routes used by the perpetrator.
Residents of the society expressed deep disturbance over the incident. They alleged that the woman was not captured in CCTV footage because she exited through an area not covered by cameras. Security lapses have been a recurring issue, with residents claiming that adequate night security guards are not deployed as per norms. They also reported frequent theft incidents in recent months.
In response to these concerns, residents staged a protest earlier in the week, demanding improved security measures within the premises.
District-Wide Security Audit Announced
Meanwhile, the district police commissionerate has announced a special security audit across residential societies and institutions. Scheduled between April 5 and 7, this campaign will involve officers inspecting private security personnel deployed in various establishments.
The audit will be conducted in coordination with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), Apartment Owners' Associations (AOAs), and security agencies. Key focus areas include:
- Verifying proper registration and vetting of private security agencies.
- Examining entry and exit registers for vehicles and visitors.
- Assessing the use of digital verification systems.
- Evaluating the number, functionality, and storage capacity of CCTV cameras.
- Giving special attention to night security arrangements.
This initiative aims to address systemic flaws and enhance safety protocols in the wake of such crimes.
