Deadly Bus Crash in Etawah Leaves Driver Dead and Six Critically Injured
A private double-decker bus traveling from Delhi to Bihar lost control and crashed into a trailer on the National Highway in Etawah early Monday morning, resulting in the tragic death of the driver and leaving six passengers critically injured. The severe collision completely wrecked the bus and severed both legs of the driver, who succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.
Details of the Accident
The accident occurred at approximately 5:40 am near Jagmohanpur village under the Ekdil police station area. According to eyewitnesses and local police reports, the bus driver suddenly dozed off, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. This led to the bus ramming into the rear of a trailer moving ahead on the highway.
Emergency Response and Rescue Operations
Local residents rushed to the scene after hearing screams and immediately began relief operations while informing the police. Upon receiving the information, CO (City) Abhay Narayan, Ekdil police station personnel, and Friends Colony TSI arrived at the spot with a police force. After extensive efforts, the police successfully rescued the driver and the injured passengers who were trapped inside the severely damaged bus.
Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact cause of the accident, as stated by the CO. The incident highlights the dangers of driver fatigue on long-distance routes and underscores the need for enhanced safety measures on national highways.
