Etawah Police Arrest Molestation Accused in Encounter

Kanpur: A man accused of molestation and attempted rape was arrested by Etawah police on Friday night during an encounter on the Bojha-Ghughsina road. The accused sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg in retaliatory firing and was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment.

Shrishchandra, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Etawah, stated that the police had received information regarding the molestation and attempted rape of a nine-year-old girl in a village under the Bakewar police station area. The SP rural added that Bakewar Station House Officer Vipin Malik received a tip-off that the accused was present on Ghughsina road.

Acting on the information, a police team reached the spot and surrounded the accused. Upon seeing the police, the accused opened fire using a country-made pistol. In retaliatory action, the police shot the accused in his right leg.

The police recovered one 315 bore country-made pistol, two live cartridges, and two empty cartridges from the accused's possession.
