Ex-Congress MLA Seeks Removal of DSP for Fair Polls

Former Congress MLA Submits Representation to Punjab SEC

A former Congress MLA from Rajpura has approached the Punjab State Election Commission (SEC) with a request to transfer a Station House Officer (SHO) and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) from the constituency. The move is aimed at ensuring a level playing field for all candidates in the upcoming elections.

The former legislator, who did not wish to be named, claimed that the police officials were acting under the influence of rival political parties, thereby jeopardizing the electoral process. He submitted a written representation to the SEC, detailing instances of alleged bias and urging the commission to take immediate action.

In the representation, the ex-MLA highlighted that the SHO and DSP were not maintaining neutrality, which could affect the fairness of the polls. He requested the SEC to transfer them out of Rajpura before the election schedule is announced.

The SEC has acknowledged receipt of the representation and assured that it will be examined according to the established procedures. The commission has also urged all stakeholders to cooperate in conducting free and fair elections.

Political observers note that such representations are common ahead of elections, as parties seek to ensure a neutral administrative machinery. The Punjab SEC is expected to respond shortly.
