A 32-year-old former human resources manager, identified as B K Manisha, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan at her rented accommodation in the Pahal area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. According to local police, the incident is being treated as a suicide, with personal reasons cited as the likely cause. Authorities have confirmed that there is no evidence of foul play.

Police Investigation Details

Inspector-in-charge of Pahala police station, Aswini Kumar Jena, stated, "We are trying to ascertain what may have triggered her decision. We had to break open two doors, both locked from inside, to enter her room. No suspicious circumstances were found." The police have seized Manisha's mobile phone and laptop for forensic examination to gather more information.

Family and Background

Manisha's family, residing in Bhadrak district, has not raised any allegations of foul play or abetment. Police revealed that she had worked as an HR manager at a city hotel before resigning approximately seven months ago. Officers are also investigating her relationship with a contractor who frequently stayed at her residence. "We are examining whether her death is linked to the relationship. The man is being questioned," said another officer.

Sequence of Events

The contractor informed police that he left Manisha's house on Monday afternoon. Later that night, after repeated calls to her phone went unanswered, he returned to the residence. Finding the house locked from inside and receiving no response, he alerted the authorities. Friends of Manisha have urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

Friend's Statement

Sonia Sahu, a friend of Manisha, expressed shock, saying, "She was mentally strong and never appeared stressed. We are unaware of any relationship issues. She was cheerful, financially stable, and had no family problems." The police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding her death, including the role of the contractor in her life.
