Munnar: The revenue department has issued an eviction notice to former Devikulam MLA S Rajendran, ordering him to vacate his residence in Munnar within seven days. The notice, issued in the name of the Devikulam sub-collector, confirms that the house is situated on government puramboke land.
Details of the Notice
Rajendran currently resides on a seven-cent plot at Ikka Nagar in Munnar. According to the notice, if he fails to vacate the premises within the stipulated period, the revenue department will seek police assistance for eviction. A request has already been submitted to the Idukki district police chief in this regard.
Rajendran's Reaction
Reacting to the development, Rajendran alleged that the eviction notice was politically motivated. He stated that he would challenge the notice through legal means and claimed that the documents related to the land are fabricated. Rajendran further mentioned that he has approached the court over the issue and has no immediate plans to vacate the house.
He pointed out that the state government had earlier decided not to evict occupants residing on plots measuring less than 10 cents. The present action, he argued, contradicts that policy. Claiming political vendetta, Rajendran said that while show cause notices were issued to around 30 residents in the area, he alone had been served with a direct eviction notice.
