Former MP Nandigam Suresh Faces Fresh Criminal Charges in Vijayawada
In a significant development, former Member of Parliament Nandigam Suresh has been implicated in another criminal case, this time at the Suryaraopeta Police Station in Vijayawada. The charges leveled against him include serious offenses of cheating and criminal intimidation, marking a new chapter in the legal troubles facing the political figure.
Complaint Details Alleged Financial Fraud
The case stems from a formal complaint filed by Shaik Moulall, a 55-year-old resident of Sundaraiah Nagar in Vijayawada. According to police documentation, Moulall has been an active member of the CBCNC Church for approximately eight years, with the church's central headquarters situated in Kakinada.
The complaint outlines a troubling sequence of events that allegedly transpired between November 12, 2021, and March 10, 2026, centered around Uddandarayunipalem village in Thulluru mandal of Guntur district. Moulall contends that when the church trust required renewal, Nandigam Suresh approached congregation members, asserting that a substantial sum of ₹2.5 crore was necessary to complete the renewal procedure.
Alleged Payment and Subsequent Deception
Trusting Suresh's representations, Moulall, accompanied by several church elders, reportedly visited the former MP's residence in Uddandarayunipalem village. During this visit on November 12, 2021, they allegedly handed over ₹25 lakh in cash as an initial installment toward the purported renewal expenses.
However, the complaint alleges that despite accepting this significant payment, Nandigam Suresh failed to initiate any renewal process for the church trust. Furthermore, he reportedly did not return the funds when requested, leading to growing frustration among the church members.
"When we repeatedly asked him about the progress, he kept postponing the matter with false promises," Moulall stated in his police report. The situation escalated when the complainant claims Suresh later threatened them during telephone conversations and explicitly refused to refund the money.
Police Investigation Underway
Acting on the complaint, Suryaraopeta police formally registered the case on March 10 at approximately 8:00 PM. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that a thorough investigation has been launched to examine the allegations in detail.
Police authorities have indicated that their next steps will involve meticulously reviewing all available evidence and collecting statements from everyone involved in the matter. The investigation aims to establish the factual basis of the claims and determine appropriate legal action.
This development adds to the legal challenges facing Nandigam Suresh, who previously served as a Member of Parliament. The case highlights concerns about financial transactions involving religious institutions and the accountability of public figures in such matters.
As the investigation progresses, authorities emphasize their commitment to following due process and ensuring justice is served based on the evidence presented. The outcome of this case could have significant implications for both the individuals involved and broader community trust in institutional processes.
