Chandigarh: Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the excise department conducted a raid on a restaurant located in Sector 9 on Friday night. During the operation, officials recovered a significant quantity of liquor from the premises.
Violation of Excise Rules
Upon verification, it was found that the establishment did not possess a valid liquor licence for either storage or service. Officials confirmed that the liquor was being kept in clear violation of excise rules and regulations.
Legal Action Initiated
The excise department promptly informed the local police about the violation and initiated legal proceedings. An FIR has been registered under Section 68(1)(B) of the Excise Act, which deals with unauthorized possession and sale of liquor.
Officials have warned that enforcement drives will continue across the city, and strict action will be taken against any violators. They urged all businesses to comply with excise laws to avoid legal consequences.
This raid is part of a broader crackdown on illegal liquor trade in Chandigarh. The department encourages citizens to report any suspicious activities related to liquor sales.
