Balangir: Police on Monday seized a significant quantity of explosives and arrested three individuals for allegedly conducting illegal blasting operations at a stone quarry near Talpadar village under Tarbha police station limits in Subarnapur district. The seized items included 43 detonators, 225 packets of gunpowder each weighing 25 kg, and six bundles of detonating cord.

Details of the Arrest

The accused have been identified as Bikash Pradhan (32), Dhruba Charan Sahu (56), and Sachindra Bhoi (24), all residents of Sambalpur district. According to police, the trio was involved in unauthorized blasting activities at the quarry, which posed a serious threat to public safety and violated mining regulations.

Police Action and Investigation

Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided the location and apprehended the suspects red-handed. The explosives were stored improperly, increasing the risk of accidents. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Explosives Act and other applicable laws. Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the explosives and any possible links to larger illegal networks.
