Fake Aadhaar Card Manufacturing Racket Uncovered in Kishanganj District
In a significant crackdown on cyber fraud, authorities in Kishanganj district have apprehended an individual accused of operating a sophisticated fake Aadhaar card racket. The arrest followed a meticulously planned raid conducted on Thursday, targeting a grocery store located within the jurisdiction of the Terhagacch police station.
Details of the Police Operation and Arrest
The operation was spearheaded by a joint team of law enforcement officials, under the leadership of SDPO-II Manglesh Kumar and Cyber DSP Ravishankar. According to SP Santosh Kumar, the suspect, identified as Manohar Kumar Sharma, was taken into custody after the raid revealed his involvement in an organized gang specializing in the illicit production of Aadhaar cards.
This criminal network allegedly utilized forged documents and certificates to create fraudulent identification cards, posing a serious threat to national security and personal data integrity. The police action underscores the ongoing efforts to combat identity theft and document forgery in the region.
Evidence Seized and Legal Proceedings Initiated
During the raid, law enforcement officials confiscated a range of equipment believed to be instrumental in the counterfeit operation. The seized items include a laptop, an iris scanner, multiple fingerprint scanners, and a printer, all of which were allegedly used to manufacture the fake Aadhaar cards. These tools highlight the advanced methods employed by the accused to replicate official documents.
Following the arrest, police have lodged a formal First Information Report (FIR) against Sharma. He was subsequently produced before a court on Friday, where legal proceedings are now underway. This case marks a critical step in addressing cyber crimes linked to document forgery in Bihar.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities in digital identification systems and the need for heightened vigilance. Authorities continue to investigate the broader network associated with this racket, aiming to dismantle it entirely and prevent further misuse of personal data.
