A former security guard from Delhi has been arrested for allegedly faking his identity and forging documents to orchestrate the sale of a Supreme Court-attached property in Sushant Lok-III, Gurgaon. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) apprehended the accused, identified as Rajendra Singh, a native of Nepal, from Bengaluru, where he currently resides.
Illegal Sale of Court-Attached Property
The property in question is under the control of a committee constituted by the Supreme Court. Any transaction involving the land without the court's explicit approval is illegal, an officer stated. The fraudulent sale came to light after a naib tehsildar filed a complaint on March 14, 2024, reporting that the attached property was sold using a fake board resolution, fabricated declarations, and forged ownership documents.
According to the complaint, a sale deed was executed, enabling Singh and his associates to siphon off money from the transaction. The officer revealed that Singh assumed a false identity and procured fake Aadhaar and PAN cards in the name of one Ravinder Prasad. Using these forged documents, he opened a current account in the name of PGF Ltd and projected himself as its authorised representative.
Financial Trail and Arrests
A portion of the transaction amount was routed to the fake company account and later withdrawn through cheques, the officer added. During interrogation, Singh disclosed that he was recruited into the racket by other individuals. He admitted to receiving approximately Rs 5 lakh for his role in the fraud.
Two other individuals involved in the racket have also been arrested for their roles in the conspiracy. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other members of the network, as well as to trace the financial trail and verify the forged documents used in the transaction.
Legal Proceedings
The accused will be produced before a Gurgaon court, and further investigation is in progress. Authorities are also examining the possibility of additional fraudulent transactions linked to the same network.
