Contractor Targeted by Impersonators in Dhar District Robbery
In a brazen daylight incident, five individuals posing as Income Tax officials executed a robbery at the residence of a contractor in the Brahmin Mohalla of Baag, located in Dhar district, on Friday morning. The event unfolded around 10 am, when the perpetrators entered the home of contractor Rajkumar Malviya under the false pretense of conducting a search for black money.
Hostage Situation and Theft Details
The impostors took Malviya and his wife, Krishna, hostage, demanding the keys to an almirah. They proceeded to steal gold ornaments weighing approximately half a kilogram, which included jewellery belonging to the couple's daughter, along with Rs 4 lakh in cash and three mobile phones. Before fleeing the scene, they locked the couple inside a room to delay any immediate response.
Rescue and Police Response
Malviya managed to alert neighbours by shouting for help, who then contacted the Baag police. Officers arrived promptly, broke the lock, and rescued the couple from confinement. Manawar SDO (police) Sunil Gupta provided details of the incident, noting the swift action taken by law enforcement.
Investigation and Recovery Efforts
In-charges of the Baag and Kukshi police stations, Kailash Chohan and Rajesh Yadav, conducted a preliminary search of the area. During this investigation, one of the stolen mobile phones belonging to the Malviya couple was recovered from a garbage heap on the Bypass Road. The police are continuing their efforts to track down the suspects and recover the remaining stolen items.
This incident highlights concerns over impersonation crimes and the need for heightened vigilance among residents. Authorities are urging the public to verify the credentials of individuals claiming to be government officials before allowing them entry into homes.
