Family Debunks False Claims About Woman Killed by ICE Agent

Family Breaks Silence After ICE Shooting Sparks False Online Rumors

The grieving family of Renee Nicole Good has spoken out publicly. They confronted false online claims about her criminal history. Good died after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot her in Minneapolis earlier this month.

A Tragic Incident and Viral Misinformation

Thirty-seven-year-old Renee Nicole Good lost her life on January 7. An ICE agent fired his weapon during an encounter in a residential neighborhood. The agent claimed he acted in self-defense after Good's SUV clipped him.

In the following days, unverified rumors spread rapidly across social media platforms. These posts falsely suggested Good had a significant criminal past. The speculation turned her death into a heated national debate.

Family Issues Emotional Statement on Facebook

Morgan Fletcher, Good's sister-in-law, broke the family's silence. She posted a heartfelt statement on Facebook. Fletcher explained the family waited to respond until they could prepare a proper statement together.

"I've been pretty quiet about this," Fletcher wrote. "I wanted to wait until our family could piece together a statement ... and it is finally published."

The family never expected their personal tragedy to become so public. "You never think the passing of a loved one will be high profile ... or a massively divisive, political topic," Fletcher added.

Confronting False Claims and Online Attacks

Fletcher directly addressed the false criminal history allegations. "And we've seen the false claims and the wrong Renee Good's info being posted (criminal history? She didn't have one.)," she stated clearly.

Independent verification supports the family's position. The New York Post investigated and found no evidence of any criminal record for Renee Nicole Good.

The online attacks have compounded the family's grief. "We are grieving. Heavily," Fletcher shared. "And yes, we see everyone's posts and comments. Some in support but also, the nasty ones ripping apart our beautiful and beloved Renee."

A Plea for Humanity Amid Political Division

Fletcher made an emotional appeal for basic human decency. She acknowledged people hold different opinions about ICE and the shooting itself.

"No matter where you stand on the issue of ICE or whether or not you think she did or didn't deserve what happened," she wrote, "please remember she was a human being and she had loved ones ... including children who can and will likely see all of these things about their mother ... and her wife, whom she loved dearly."

Community Response and Ongoing Investigation

Good's death has sparked significant community reaction in Minneapolis. Tens of thousands of people participated in protests and marches. These demonstrations voiced opposition to ICE operations in the city.

Multiple videos of the shooting have surfaced from different angles. The footage shows ICE agents approaching Good's vehicle. Agent Jonathan Ross then fired multiple shots as the car moved away. The vehicle later crashed.

The incident continues to raise serious questions about law enforcement procedures and accountability. Community members demand transparency as investigations proceed.
